Cardiac catheterizations are minimally invasive procedures commonly used to treat some forms of heart disease.

Doctors enter the heart through arteries in the legs or arms, inject dye to determine the area of blockage and, when possible clear blocked arteries or insert a stent to open arteries.

The CardioVascular Institute of North Colorado has three spacious state-of-the-art catheterization labs including a dual-purpose lab that can also be used for diagnostic or interventional electrophysiology studies.

Two of the labs are equipped with the latest in flat-plate technology, GE 3100 and GE 2100, that enables true digital acquisition. One lab features equipment designed to enhance performance of peripheral vascular procedures. The area also includes a dedicated 12-bed holding area.

NCMC is one of the leaders in cardiac catheterization procedures. The following are among those most frequently performed:

  • Angiography
  • Angioplasty (balloon)
  • Atherectomy (rotational)
  • Echo Proecdures
  • Electrophysiology Study ICD/Pacemaker Implantation
  • Intracoronary Ultrasound
  • Peripheral Vascular Intervention
