Preparing for Surgery
We understand there are a lot of details to attend to when planning for surgery, which is why we encourage you to contact us with any questions you may have.
The same can be said when it comes to planning for discharge. We work with you during your stay to meet any discharge needs. Please let us know of any concerns.
The patient’s surgeon’s office will schedule surgery, and the surgeon may order appropriate pre-procedure tests.
The Pre-operative Clinic provides a Nurse Practitioner and Registered Nurse to review history, medications and to provide education. The Nurse Practitioner completes a focused medical history and physical for anesthesia clearance. Tests may include blood tests, X-ray and/or an EKG.
Family-Centered Patient Care
Our Surgical Care staff focuses on a proactive approach to quality patient care that includes communication and education. From the time you begin preparing for surgery through the time you start recovering, our team involves your family in treatment and care decisions to help ease any anxiety you may have. Following surgery, our post-operative nursing staff employs the same family-centered care that you first experienced in pre-operative care.
