Preparing for Surgery

Patient talking to doctor

At North Colorado Medical Center, we understand there are a lot of details to attend to when planning for surgery. Please do not hesitate to contact us with any questions.

Planning for discharge is just as important as planning for admission. We work with the patient during their stay to meet any discharge needs. Please let us know of any concerns.

Family-Centered Patient Care
Our Surgical Care staff focuses on a proactive approach to quality patient care that includes communication and education. From the time the patient begins preparing for surgery through the time the patient is recovering, our team involves the family in treatment and care decisions to help ease any anxiety a patient may have.

Following surgery, our post-operative nursing staff employs the same family-centered care that patients first experienced in pre-operative care. Many surgical patients need the highly specialized care of an Intensive Care Unit (ICU) following their procedures. A new, spacious ICU opened as a part of the North Colorado Medical Center Second Century project.

ICU patients now benefit from advanced telemonitoring technology that promises fundamental changes in hospital ICU care. North Colorado Medical Center is the first health care provider in Colorado to use the new technology, which allows intensive care physicians, called intensivists, to remotely monitor patients in multiple intensive care units.
