Robotic Surgery at
Sterling Regional Medical Center
Sterling Regional MedCenter surgeons can utilize a surgical robot for many procedures which allows the surgeon to work with four interactive robotic arms along with a high-performance vision system to perform surgeries.
The surgeon's fingers grasp the master controls below the display and the system translates the surgeon's hand, wrist and finger movements into precise, real-time movements of surgical instruments inside the patient.
The robot's long, spindly arms can easily get into hard-to-reach areas and make dime-sized incisions. The robotic surgical system cannot be programmed, nor can it make decisions on its own.
