(Dec. 14, 2009)--In November 1999 the Institute of Medicine (IOM) released its landmark report, To Err is Human, which estimated that as many as 98,000 people die each year in hospitals because of preventable medical harm. Over the past decade, hospitals across Nebraska have taken numerous steps to develop an improved culture of safety within their organization.

LINCOLN, Neb. (Nov. 2, 2009)—For 30 years, the Nebraska Hospital Association (NHA) has paid tribute to Nebraska's most caring hospital workers with the Caring Kind award. Sandy Deckert, RN, of Banner Health Ogallala Medical Group was one of the 72 people honored at the 30th Anniversary of the Caring Kind Awards Luncheon held on Oct. 16 at The Cornhusker Marriott Hotel.
