Banner Health Community Hospital receives quality health care award
TORRINGTON, Wyo. (Oct. 12, 2009) - Banner Health Community Hospital received the 2009 Mountain-Pacific Quality Achievement Award on October 1, 2009, in Sheridan. Banner Health Community Hospital Chief Executive Officer, Brenda L. Sturm, accepted the award. The award is given to hospitals by Mountain-Pacific, at an awards luncheon which took place during the annual conference of the Wyoming Hospital Association.

(July 8, 2009) - What brought a native of San Antonio, Texas, population 1 million, to Torrington, Wyo.? “I’ve been interested in medicine from a young age,” says Dr. Norma Cantu, a family practice physician who moved to Torrington in May to practice at Banner Medical Clinic. “My grandparents used to live in a small town and drive hundreds of miles for medical care. I always wanted to practice medicine in a small town, where you can really help people and make a difference.”

TORRINGTON, Wyo. (July 8, 2009) - Natalie Beck, an Upton native, has returned to Wyoming. Beck joined Banner Medical Clinic in Torrington in June as a family nurse practitioner (FNP), seeing patients four days a week.

TORRINGTON, Wyo. (July 8, 2009) - Michelle K. Hunter, physician assistant, loves her new practice at Banner Medical Clinic. After working for the last six years at an urgent care clinic in Scottsbluff, Neb., she says she is excited to be able to provide continuity of care. “I was tired of saying ‘follow up with your doctor in a week’,“ Hunter says. “I wanted to be able to say ‘follow up with me in a week’, and then be able to follow the care of my patients. I also wanted the balance of acute and chronic medicine, which I have at Banner Medical Clinic.”

Banner Health - Torrington Welcomes New Chief Nursing Officer TORRINGTON, Wyo. (May 11, 2009) -- Banner Health - Torrington is pleased to introduce Chief Nursing Office/Associate Administrator Jeanie Martindale. Martindale has over 30 years of experience as a registered nurse, 20 plus of those years in management. Her wide range of experience has been in Nursing Education, Informatics, Home Health Care, and as the Director of a Dialysis unit. Martindale is a nationally certified nurse in General Nursing Practice and belongs to the American Nurses Association along with Sigma Theta Tau, an international Honor Society of Nursing. Until accepting the CNO/AA position on May 11, Jeanie was Interim Chief Nursing Officer at Banner Health –Torrington.

Alzheimer's Unit Close to Completion
TORRINGTON, WY (April 10, 2009) -- The 28 bed Alzheimer’s Care Center attached to Goshen Care Center is nearing completion. The Unit was first proposed about five years ago, but didn’t become a reality until construction began in June 2008. Now the 4.3 million dollar addition is expected to be up and running in June 2009.

Community Hospital Breaks Ground on New ED/Hospital Remodel Project
Torrington, WY (May 25, 2009) -- On Thursday, May 21, Banner Health Community Hospital held a formal ground breaking ceremony for their new emergency department and hospital remodel project. The 8.2 million dollar project includes a new 3,700 square foot emergency department with a private entrance for ambulances, as well as a remodel of certain areas and infrastructure in the existing hospital.
