Special Touch Program
Terminally Ill Care
Community Hospital and the Special Touch program are dedicated to caring for people with terminal illnesses and their families. The Special Touch philosophy embraces life enthusiastically while at the same time acknowledges death as part of life's continuum.
At Special Touch, we believe that no one embarking on the final journey should walk alone. We provide terminally ill patients and their families with trained volunteers to assist with their social, emotional and spiritual needs.
All Special Touch volunteers attend comprehensive training programs in bereavement support, active listening, and family assistance.
Volunteers can assist with . . .
- Errands, letter-writing, phone calls
- Bereavement support
- Care for the caregiver
