Platte County Memorial Hospital is accredited by JCAHO. The Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations (JCAHO) has been evaluating the quality and safety of patient care for over fifty years in nearly 17,000 facilities. A board that includes physicians, nurses, and consumers governs JCAHO. To earn and maintain accreditation, organizations must have an extensive on-site survey at least once every three years. Accreditation is then awarded based on how well the organizations meet the JCAHO standards, and the seal of approval from accreditation indicates that our organization meets high performance standards.
At its heart, Joint Commission accreditation is a risk-reduction activity; compliance with these standards is intended to reduce the risk of adverse outcomes. JCAHO helps us demonstrate a commitment to patient safety through their standards. About 50% of JCAHO standards are directly related to safety, with additional standards indirectly related to safety. Standards address restraints, environment of care (fire drills, emergency preparedness, security, medical equipment); medication use; event prevention; the safety culture of the hospital; infection control practices; management of surgery, anesthesia, and transfusion services; and staffing coverage and competency management.
If you have a question, concern, or complaint about any aspect of your care at Platte County Memorial Hospital or want to tell us how great we did, please feel free to call, email, or write us.
