  • Birthing Classes
Platte County holds birthing classes for expectant parents three times per year in January, May and September. Classes are free and consist of six, two-hour classes that run for six consecutive weeks. These classes teach parents-to-be what to expect during the pregnancy and birthing processes and each class offers various relaxation techniques to help make labor as comfortable as it can be. The classes are taught by our excellent, knowledgeable and caring obstetrics staff. To find out when the next session begins, contact Darla Patterson at (307) 322-3636 ext. 2229.

    Long Term Care
Our nursing home enhances choices in care for its residents and making its environment more inviting and homelike. Residents direct their care to the highest extent possible. Therefore, assistance is given only in areas where it is needed. Each staff member works with the same residents on a regular basis to develop trust, meaningful relationships and lasting bonds. Our nursing home's Activities Department provides our residents with a wide variety of enjoyable activities in which they can participate and bond with other residents.

    Nutritional Counseling
We promote lifelong health and wellness through education and prevention by emphasizing the importance of good nutrition. Counseling is available for weight management, high cholesterol, high blood pressure and more. Registered dieticians and diet technicians are available to answer any questions or concerns our patients have.

    Occupational Therapy
Back and neck strain, chronic pain or lower back problems can result from work related conditions. Our visiting occupational therapist provides work injury treatment and rehabilitation along with prevention and wellness techniques.

    Physical Therapy
Our physical therapists work with patients to increase muscle strength, endurance and stamina. Patients increase their movement independence by improving balance, flexibility and coordination. New services include cardiac and pulmonary rehabilitation and group physical therapy procedures.

    Rehabilitation
Our physical, speech and occupational therapists strive to help patients achieve independence by regaining abilities lost to injury or disease. We provide a variety of rehabilitation therapies including wound and burn therapy, sport injury, spinal injury, stroke rehabilitation and orthopedic rehabilitation.

    Speech Therapy
Our visiting speech pathologist treats patients with communication and swallowing difficulties. She assists patients in regaining verbal skills lost to injury or disease as well as overcoming speech impediments such as lisping or stuttering.

    Visiting Specialists
Our new Outpatient Clinic brings in over 20 of the region's top physicians in nine different medical specialties. Specialties include audiology, cardiology, ear, nose & throat, general surgery, neurology, oncology, orthopedics, pediatrics, podiatry and urology. To find out when a specialist for a specific field will be at Platte County's Outpatient Clinic, call (307) 322-6408.

    Wellness Services
Our Wellness Department is dedicated to keeping our county-wide community healthy through two health fairs a year, culminating with our Community Health Fair in September. The Wellness Department also arranges in-business education for any area business with an interest in any health topic. This department also arranges blood draws and support groups as requested.
