Terrie Bruckner receives National Writing Award
WORLAND, Wyo. (June 25, 2009) -- Terrie Bruckner, Medical Lab Technologist, at Washakie Medical Center was honored at the American Medical Technologist's (AMT) 71st National Education Program on June 25, 2009 in Minneapolis, Minn. Terrie was awarded 2nd place in the technical writing awards for her article on "Monoclonal Antibodies Used as Cancer Immunotherapy." Monoclonal antibodies are the most widely used form of cancer immunotherapy at this time. Monoclonal antibody therapy uses antibodies made in large numbers outside the body (in the lab) rather than by a person's own immune system.
In 2008, Terrie also received an AMT writing award for “Platelet Function Testing." For the past 4 years, Terrie has also received the AMT Continuing Education Certificate of Excellence. In addition, Terrie was elected President of Rocky Mountain State Society of AMT in 2008 and is currently serving in that role. Washakie Medical Center encourages continued education and is fortunate to have support and resources through Banner to obtain additional skills and knowledge. Diagnostic Manager, Marty Hinkel says, "I am extremely proud of Terrie's accomplishments and she is a valuable member of our lab team."
