Emergency Care Services
The Emergency department at Washakie Medical Center is proud to provide emergency care to residents in Washakie County and the Big Horn Basin.
We understand visits to the emergency room can be very stressful and our compassionate health care team is dedicated to making the patient and family experience go as smooth as possible.
We have improved the design of our Emergency department and our procedures to make sure patients are seen by a physician and receive care as quickly as possible.
We offer 24-hour care by specially trained nurses, support staff, including qualified and experienced emergency physicians. We are also staffed by a 24 hour on-site hospitalist who provides additional physician support and consultation to our Emergency department staff when treating critical patients.
Our team of emergency physicians:
- Ryan Clifford, MD
- Richard Rush, MD
- Diane Noton, MD
- Ben Wilde, D.O.
- Ed Zimmerman, MD
Washakie is designated as a Level III trauma center, which means while it does not have the full availability of specialists, it has resources for emergency resuscitation, surgery, and intensive care of most trauma patients. Some seriously injured or ill patients may need to be transferred to a larger hospital for more specialty care. To save valuable minutes during a patient transfer, the emergency helicopter landing pad is right outside the emergency entrance.
Communication plays a key role in a successful course of treatment in the Emergency department. Language and interpretive services are available at all Banner facilities; please ask the nurse or Emergency department receptionist about these services.
