High Definition Endoscopy
High-definition television (HDTV) has made its way from the living room to the Washakie Medical Center exam room.
Washakie Medical Center's leading edge technology includes high-definition endoscope to help doctors diagnose diseases in the esophagus, stomach, colon.
Our system has several advantages:
- Sharper images and better contrast that can lead to improved detection of lesions.
- State-of-the-art blue light provides physicians with clearer images to detect digestive disorders sooner.
- Shortened procedure times for the patients
- Increased clarity helps doctors make earlier diagnosis of ulcers, acid reflux, esophagus abnormalities, as well as colon and rectal cancers.
Washakie Medical Center performs an average of 470 endoscopy cases per year. Our surgical team of licensed, dedicated, and compassionate staff has more than 75 years combined experience.
The risk of a person having colorectal cancer in their lifetime is about one in 19, according to The American Cancer Society.
Colorectal cancer is the second leading cancer killer in the United States, according to the Center for Disease Control but it doesn’t have to be. If everyone aged 50 years or older had regular screening tests, at least 60 percent of deaths from this cancer could be avoided.
The Wyoming Colorectal Cancer Screening Program urges everyone over 50 to be screened. Wyoming residents may qualify for a free colonoscopy and Washakie Medical participates in this program to help hard-working Wyoming residents who cannot afford this important screening.
If you are over 50 or at higher risk due to family history, contact your physician to schedule your endoscopy screening.
