Currently there are 16 positions in our fully-accredited, four-year Psychiatry Residency Program. The manageable size of our program fosters a genuine spirit of cooperation, participation and collegiality between residents and faculty to ensure an optimal learning experience. Banner Good Samaritan participates in the National Resident Matching Program (NRMP).

PGY-1
PGY-1 applicants should submit their application packet through the Electronic Residency Application Service (ERAS). Upon review of completed applications, we will contact suitable candidates to arrange a visit with us. In consideration of their travel expenses, we will include a flyer listing hotels in the general area who offer reduced rates to the applicants we will be interviewing.

PGY-2 and Transferring Applicants
PGY-2 or transferring applicants should return our printed application form and the requested documentation by mail.

- Competency based letter addressed to our Program Director from the Program Director in the residency you are currently in outlining the clinical experiences for which the applicant has received credit and a statement regarding the applicant's professional ethics.
- Three letters of recommendation addressed to our Program Director from physicians with whom you are currently working
- Your USMLE Scores - Step 1, 2 and 3 if available.

- Copies of your medical school diploma, previous internship or residency certificates, medical licenses and DEA certificate.

- ECFMG Certificate or Status Report if applicable
International Medical School Graduates should have passed USMLE Step 1 and both parts of Step 2 before applying. An applicant may be out of medical school no longer than 5 years. One year clinical experience in the United States is mandatory as well and may not be in research alone.
