Selection Criteria & Processes

Applicant Evaluation and Selection

Currently there are 16 positions in our fully-accredited, four-year Psychiatry Residency Program. The manageable size of our program fosters a genuine spirit of cooperation, participation and collegiality between residents and faculty to ensure an optimal learning experience.

Banner Good Samaritan participates in the National Resident Matching Program (NRMP) and PGY-1 applicants are expected to apply through ERAS. Applicants who plan to enter at the PGY-2 level must have completed one year of appropriate training after receiving their medical degree.

Our Residency Education Committee, comprised of the Program Director, numerous faculty and resident representatives, oversees the evaluation and selection of applicants.
