Banner Baywood Medical Center Pharmacy Residency
Banner Baywood Medical Center, located in Mesa, Ariz., serves many health care needs of the growing far East Valley of metropolitan Phoenix.
The nonprofit, 342-bed facility provides complete acute care services including emergency services, stroke, orthopedics, general surgery, women's health and cancer care.
Also located on the campus, Banner Heart Hospital provides specialized cardiology services. For three years in a row, it has been named one of the nation's Top 100 Hospitals for cardiovascular care by Thomsom Reuters.
Banner Baywood Medical Center currently employs more than 1,500 health care professionals and support staff and has approximately 1,000 volunteers. The facility has a medical staff of more than 800 physicians including hospitalists and specialty physicians.
About our Pharmacy Department
The mission of the Banner Baywood Medical Center Pharmacy department is "We exist to make a difference in people's live through excellent patient-centered pharmaceutical care." To provide this care, we employ 16 inpatient pharmacists and 21 certified licensed technicians who provide pharmacy services 24 hours a day.
Five inpatient clinical pharmacy specialists cover areas of intensive care, internal medicine, oncology, emergency medicine, cardiology, and surgery. These pharmacists routinely manage clinical consults such as pain management, nutrition support, pharmacokinetics, drug information, patient education, and antibiotic streamlining.
In the outpatient services area, our Medication Management Clinic employs nine clinical pharmacy specialists who manage more than 4,000 patients for anticoagulation, congestive heart failure, blood management (pre-op anemia), diabetes and out-patient infusion therapy.
About our PGY1 Residency Program
Pharmacists completing our residency program will be prepared to assume the responsibilities of an experienced entry-level clinical pharmacists/clinical staff pharmacist or PGY2 specialty residency position. Through comprehensive education and training in both the inpatient and outpatient setting we promote and foster:
