Didactic Curriculum
A combined intern and resident morning report is held daily at each training site.
Each one-hour session is comprised of a didactic lecture followed by a presentation of an active teaching case. The didactic lectures form the basis of the program's curriculum, designed to run over a 12-month period.
The curriculum covers all topics in internal medicine and the material presented in the Medical Knowledge Self-Assessment Program. A complimentary ambulatory curriculum is reviewed bi-monthly in the outpatient clinic.
In addition to morning report, noon conferences and specialty grand rounds are throughout the week. Internal Medicine Grand Rounds are held every Friday at both training sites. Other conferences that the residents participate in are the patient safety conference, evidence-based medicine conference, clinical pathology conference, tumor board, infectious disease grand rounds, ethics conference, cardiology "Big Board," end-of-life seminar, and many other cross-curricular conferences.
Journal club is held monthly both on and off the hospital campus.
Each resident will complete the required research month, during which the resident will learn statistics and research design and protocol. Study design and specifics will be presented to the program at the end of the research month.
