Psychiatry Residency Program Clinical Experiences
As Banner Health Arizona's central referral facility and one of the largest teaching hospitals in the state, Banner Good Samaritan provides state-of-the-art diagnostic capabilities and treatment resources for patients throughout the Southwest.
Over the four years of training, our Psychiatry residents are exposed to patients with diverse economic and sociocultural backgrounds and every type of illness, level of acuity and age.
The core clinical rotations at Banner Good Sam include traditional inpatient, outpatient and consultation settings. Those experiences are broadened by other required and elective rotations including emergency psychiatry, child and adolescent psychiatry, substance abuse, geriatrics, community psychiatry, forensics, individual, group and family psychotherapies.
Although the majority of training occurs at Banner Good Sam, several required and elective experiences are at nearby clinical sites. Under experienced faculty supervision, our residents also work with patients at the nearby Veteran's Administration Medical Center (VAMC), Phoenix Children's Hospital (PCH), a community mental health clinic, the Arizona State Hospital (ASH), Arizona State University and other clinical sites.
