The North Colorado Family Medicine Residency Training Program opened in July 1974.
This fully accredited residency program replaced a rotating internship that had trained physicians for 15 years.
As the community has grown, we have increased the number of residents trained per year to nine, including residents in the Rural Training Track and the Sunrise Community Health Center Track.
With the exception of a two-resident-per-year Podiatry Program, North Colorado Family Medicine is the only graduate medical program conducted at North Colorado Medical Center, our sponsoring institution.
As of July 2010, we have graduated 216 board-eligible family physicians and most have included obstetrics in their practices. Most of our graduates practice in rural and underserved areas, and others treat patients in a wide variety of places, including private practices, international sites, community health centers, academics, and other settings.
