Audio: “At the Banner Alzheimer’s Institute, we really pride ourselves in setting a new standard of care for individuals and their families. And I am most proud of being part of an incredible team of dementia specialists who are passionate about working with individuals impacted by these diseases and their families. I’m so proud that at BAI we can say to families, even in the most dire of situations, ‘We’re here, we understand, we’re going to get you through this situation. There is help, there’s hope. We are going to get you to the other end of this. You’re going to make it.” And that is really an exciting thing to be able to offer people in this journey that we call dementia.”

Audio: “Well, we’re doing some incredibly exciting programs for both individuals who are diagnosed with the disease as well as their family members. And we are now approaching Alzheimer’s Disease as a chronic illness, which in fact it is. And I like to make the analogy that if someone develops diabetes, we know that they go through diabetes education. Well, we’re doing the same thing for people who are diagnosed with Alzheimer’s Disease or a related dementia. So for individuals who have mild impairment, for highly functioning folks with a new diagnosis – we invite them to attend a six-week class to be with other people like themselves and learn new skills to manage their health and their well-being, to manage their emotions, their relationships, and learn how to plan for the future and yet live in the now.”
