Clinical Trials 101 Lecture

Veterans Affairs for Seniors
This lecture will cover general assistance through the VA but will mainly focus on the WarTime Pension and Aid and Attendance program that can help the Wartime Veteran or their widowed spouse to pay for Assisted Living, Home Care or Long-Term Care. This presentation will provide you with tools to apply on your own and suggestions on how to be successful on the first application attempt.

Good Start Lecture Series

Non-motor symptoms and non-pharmacological approaches to Parkinson’s disease

Planning Ahead Class
This two-hour presentation for family caregivers reviews necessary planning for legal, financial and medical decisions. Community resources, services and agencies for finding assistance in and out of the home setting are provided.

Brain G.Y.M. (Grow Your Mind)
Learn how lifestyle choices can minimize the risk of Alzheimer’s disease, then “flex” your cognitive muscles as you determine how to exercise your brain.

COMPASS: Directions for Caregivers after the Dementia Diagnosis
This is the first class caregivers must attend following a new diagnosis of Alzheimer’s disease/dementia. This 90-minute class introduces caregivers to the basics of disease progression, treatment and care.

Communication Tips to Avoid Arguments
This 2-hour class reviews changes in communication as dementia progresses and the common mistakes that caregivers make leading to arguments. A variety of alternative strategies are introduced and practiced during class so that caregivers can walk away with new techniques to immediately put into place!
