Meet Maxine Miller

Maxine Miller, born Oct. 15, 1912, is one of the oldest members in the longevity study. She is about to celebrate her 101st birthday, but says she does not allow her age to keep her from staying active and upbeat.

In speaking about her upcoming birthday, Maxine said, “I definitely don’t feel that old!” and thought it was silly to put a number on the age she feels.

In her free time, Maxine enjoys reading, and playing dominos and cards with friends. A native of Coin, Iowa, Maxine fondly recalls memories of growing up in the small farming town. Maxine spent much of her early life in Iowa and later moved to California with her husband where they lived for 40 years.

Maxine and her husband moved from California to Arizona in order to be closer to her brother. In her younger years, Maxine worked as a legal secretary in a district attorney’s office. She was very excited to land such a job as a teenager.

When asked what the most important factor contributing to her healthy aging and longevity is she quickly replied, “It’s all in God’s hands.”

Maxine’s faith is a central part of her life and she listens to church via her television at home. She advises the younger generation to build a strong relationship with the Lord and stay close to God. Maxine places all her trust in God’s hands and knows he is guiding her life.
