Meet Virginia Harvey
Born in 1909, one of our oldest participants within the Longevity Study, Virginia Harvey possesses a cheerful and upbeat attitude which positively affects those around her.
Virginia believes her healthy aging and longevity are due to genetics, having a healthy lifestyle, and remaining active throughout the years. When she was a child it was not uncommon to see Virginia enjoying outdoor activities. She loved to go horseback riding, swimming, and ice skating.
As an adult Virginia maintained a secretarial position for 30 years before retiring at the age of 61. Since retirement, Virginia has continued to possess a dynamic lifestyle. She has travelled around the world several times and became involved with volunteer work.
At the age of 89, Virginia was introduced to ballroom dancing by a friend. She immediately developed a passion for the activity and has danced competitively for 12 years. She has won competitions throughout the United States, Canada, and the Bahamas. Currently, Virginia no longer dances competitively but her love for the sport remains. She has constant contact with her fellow dancers and cherishes memories she had with them.
In her leisure time Virginia take pleasure in playing cards, reading, and socializing with friends. Virginia’s endearing personality shines through as she advises today’s younger generation to “Enjoy life and be truthful in everything you do.”
