Phoenix based Banner Health is one of the largest, nonprofit health care systems in the country. Banner Health has 22 facilities in seven states. Our mission at Research Administration, is to ensure research is conducted ethically, safely and efficiently and to support the development of research activities conducted by physicians and research investigators at Banner Health hospitals.
Research Administration maintains oversight of all in-patient research studies performed at a Banner Health hospital including research studies in bariatric, bone marrow transplant, cancer, endocrinology, cardiology, neurobiology/neuroengineering, neurology, obstetrics/gynecology, oncology, pulmonology, primary care, surgery, toxicology, pediatrics, and the use of the Positron Emission Tomography (PET) scanner in brain and Alzheimer's disease research.
To ensure the safety of research volunteers and the safety of research studies, all research activities conducted in a Banner Health hospital and involves a research volunteer must be reviewed by the Banner Health Institutional Review Board.
