Breast Wire Localization

Breast Wire Localization is a procedure performed prior to a breast biopsy or lumpectomy. The procedure uses mammography as a guide. After a local anesthetic has been used to numb the breast, a thin wire is placed in the breast to help guide the surgeon to the location of the target lesion during the biopsy or lumpectomy.
