Cardiac Alert

Banner Health works with area emergency services providers to offer a Cardiac Alert or STEMI service that allows patients experiencing a heart attack to get the quality care they need in the shortest time possible.

The American College of Cardiology has set a standard of 90 minutes from the time heart attack patients walk into an emergency room to the time their arteries are opened as the standard of care.

Through Cardiac Alert or STEMI, Banner Health patients can go from “door to balloon” in less than an hour.

The life-saving program involves :

  • Advanced training for paramedics so they can more accurately assess 911 patients while in the field
  • Technology that allows paramedics to send electrocardiograms to emergency room personnel.
  • Clinicians who prepare for the patient before the patient arrives via ambulance.
  • Once the patient arrives at the hospital, he or she is quickly moved within minutes through the Emergency department and taken to the catheterization laboratory to have their artery opened.
