The centerpiece for Banner’s Pediatric Services is Banner Children’s Hospital at Banner Desert Medical Center. The pediatric experts at Banner Children’s provide routine care and specialty care for neonates through adolescents. With almost 100 specialists on staff, Banner Children’s provides care for diseases as serious as cancer and congenital abnormalities, to minor injuries such as cuts or fevers.
Our team of physicians, nurses and specialized pediatric health care professionals know what interests children, what frightens children, and most importantly, what helps them to heal. Banner Children’s understands that caring for children is much different from caring for adults, and supports child-friendly techniques, technologies and therapies.
To continue to provide the very best care for children, Banner Children’s is currently building a new hospital tower. The expansion project encompasses 538,890 square feet, with a total cost of $328 million. Completion of the project is slated for 2009.
We develop our pediatric care by “looking through the eyes of a child”, meaning we design our care settings to be comfortable, colorful and soothing for children with public play spaces, room for Mom or Dad to stay and enhancements like video games and toy closets. Banner also provides support services especially for kids through our Child Life Specialists – caregivers who are educated to address the social, emotional and psychological needs of children in a medical setting.
