The Arizona Medical Sleep Institute provides comprehensive testing for sleep apnea and other sleep disorders. The center is accredited by the American Academy of Sleep Medicine, the gold standard by which the medical community and the public can evaluate sleep medicine services.

We are conveniently located near Banner Boswell Medical Center on the corner of 103rd Avenue and Thunderbird Road. Our office hours are 8 a.m.-4 p.m., Monday-Friday, and patient hours are by appointment only with arrival time between 7:30-8:30 p.m.

The Arizona Medical Sleep Institute can help in diagnosing and treating sleep-related disorders, including sleep apnea, excessive sleepiness, movement disorders, insomnia, narcolepsy, and other sleep/wake schedule problems.

Our staff includes registered sleep technologists, who are specially trained in sleep-monitoring techniques, and physicians, who are board-certified in sleep medicine. Specialty consultants with certification in pulmonary diseases, neurology and psychology also are available to assist in diagnosis and treatment.

What to expect Patients are usually referred to the sleep disorders program by their primary care physician. Once your evaluation is scheduled, you receive a letter confirming the test date, explaining pretest preparations and the test itself, and other special instructions.

All sleep testing is performed as close to the patient's normal sleep time as possible. Research has shown that tests performed during the daytime do not produce the same results as night-time testing because the patient's sleep pattern and depth are not adequate during these hours.

Our experienced staff can determine therapy needs while the patient is in the sleep center. Patients exhibiting moderate to severe sleep apnea symptoms can be treated the same night of the diagnostic study, eliminating the need for additional testing and costs.
