Dr. Kumar received her medical degree in India at Jawaharlal Nehru Medical College before completing her internship and residency at Wayne State University in Detroit, Mich. She then completed her endocrinology fellowship at the University of Colorado Health Sciences Center in Denver.

Board certified in internal medicine and endocrinology, metabolism and diabetes, Dr. Kumar is active in a number of professional organizations and speaks English and Malayalam.
