HIV Post Exposure Prevention Treatment (PEP)
Banner Occupational Health provides 24-hour coverage to take care of workers in Maricopa County who have been exposed to hazardous body fluids that may be infected with HIV. A medical provider is on call 24-hours a day to talk through the exposure and determine if preventive drug therapy is necessary.
The Centers for Disease Control recommends that a prescription be started within a two-hour time frame to reduce the chance of contracting HIV. Banner Health and Walgreen's 24-hour drug stores have teamed up to provide prompt service. Your employee will be directed to the nearest Walgreen's pharmacy where their prescription will be waiting.
Follow-up care provides counseling, testing and immunizations; all very important in providing peace of mind for your employee.
Let Banner help you meet the OSHA bloodborne pathogens standards. If you would like more information on these services, please e-mail us or call (480) 684-7217.
