Banner Thunderbird Surgery Center Frequently Asked Questions

Why do I have to be there so long before surgery?

Preparation for a procedure takes time. The admitting process can take anywhere from 15 to 30 minutes. Then you are escorted (with a maximum of one family member) to the Pre Op interview area where a nursing history is taken, a change of clothes is provided, and any tests or procedures are done according to the doctor’s orders. All of these procedures are performed to ensure your surgery goes as smoothly and safely as possible.

Can I fill out the forms ahead of time?

You may register online by using this link online patient registration.  The admitting staff will review this with you and ask you to sign forms as required the day of surgery.

How long will I be in the Post Operative Recovery area after the surgery?

Family members are invited in to sit with the patient as soon as they wake up and the patient is sent home as soon as they are fully awake which usually occurs 20 - 60 minutes after surgery

How do I get home?

You need a responsible adult to drive you home and stay with you for the first 24 hours after your procedure.

Will I have to pay anything on the day of my procedure?

Yes, you will be responsible for any deductibles, co-insurance and/or co-pays that are due.
