Surgicenter Frequently Asked Questions

Question:
Why do I have to be there 90 minutes before surgery and one hour for a colonoscopy?

Answer:
Preparation for a procedure takes time. The admitting process can take anywhere from 15 to 30 minutes. Then you are escorted (with a maximum of one family member) to the Pre Op interview area where a nursing history is taken, a change of clothes is provided, and any tests or procedures are done according to the doctor’s orders. All of these procedures are performed to ensure your surgery goes as smooth and safe as possible. Wireless internet is provided free of charge for those who have laptops to make your wait more enjoyable.

Question:
Can I fill out the forms ahead of time?

Answer:
No, the forms need to be filled out and signed at the facility and witnessed by your Admitting Assistant.

Question:
How long will I be in the Post Operative Recovery area after the surgery?

Answer:
Family members are invited in to sit with the Patient as soon as they wake up and the patient is sent home as soon as they are fully awake which usually occurs 20 - 60 minutes after surgery

Question:
How do I get home?

Answer:
You need a responsible adult to drive you home and stay with you overnight.

Question:
How does family contact the patient in the Recovery Care Center?

Answer:
