REALIZE™ Band

Dr. Johnell has completed special training and certification for the REALIZE™ gastric band. Ethicon Endosurgery, a division of Johnson & Johnson, received FDA approval for the device in 2007.  

Surgeon representatives from Ethicon describe the system as a "lower pressure" gastric banding device. It is described as being easier on the stomach and allows for better tolerance of meats when compared to other gastric bands. REALIZE™ offers a package of benefits that includes free online tools for tracking and monitoring success after surgery. The program entitled REALIZE mySUCCESS launched on Jan. 7, 2008. It is password and privacy protected, and available to patients before surgery!
