Be Accountable for Your Paid Time Off Balance
How much Paid Time Off (PTO) have you accrued? Once your maximum accrual is reached, you will not earn any more PTO until your balance is below the maximum. If you are nearing your maximum, we encourage you to work with your manager now to schedule time off, or consider donating to a co-worker experiencing a medical emergency through PTO Donation.
Each January, until 2015, there will be a decrease to the maximum PTO balances allowed for employees hired prior to Jan.1, 2009. The reduction of PTO maximums is part of the cost savings measures that were announced at the end of 2008.
For employees with a hire date prior to Jan. 1, 2009, the PTO maximum changes will go into effect on the first check of Jan. 2013. This change does not apply to employees in Banner Medical Group-Colorado.
On the first paycheck of the year, there will be a reduction of the PTO maximums by 45 hours and your bank will be reset as needed to bring you down to the new maximums as indicated on the Carryover Provision chart. The maximum PTO balances will be reduced by an additional 45 hours each year until the PTO maximum based on your years of service is reached. That means that by the end of each December, you want to have used your PTO down to a level below the maximum for the next year.
Once your maximum PTO Balance is reached, you will not earn any more PTO until your balance is below the maximum. At Banner Health we encourage employees to maintain a healthy work/life balance, and a part of that is using your PTO to take time off from work. We suggest you to work with your manager now to schedule time off or consider donating to a co-worker experiencing a medical emergency in need of PTO donations.
Additional information regarding PTO can be found in the Time Off section of this website. If you have questions about donating PTO hours to other employees in need, please contact the Benefit Operations department by calling (970)350-6295 or email.
You may check your PTO balance by logging on to Employee Manager Self-Service (EMSS) and selecting Paid Time Off Balance.
