Banner Health, a non-profit health care organization, is pleased to offer a Financial Assistance program for patients who require hospitalization and those who receive care in our outpatient services areas. Our program is thoughtfully designed to facilitate access to care for those able to pay a moderate portion of the costs of their care, (Basic Financial Assistance Program), and for those able to pay a small portion of the costs of their care or who are without the ability to pay (Enhanced Assistance Program).
Banner Health Patient Financial Services (PFS) representatives make every effort to identify patients who may qualify for financial assistance at the earliest possible point in the registration/accounting process. This is done in a confidential manner that respects the privacy and dignity of the patient and his or her family. Once a patient indicates an inability to meet their financial obligation, a financial evaluation is conducted that will help determine which financial assistance plan best meets the needs of the patient. Other plans may be available for those 55 and older.
Basic Financial Assistance Program
Uninsured patients who may qualify for this program must have an annual household income of $125,000 or less. This income level is verified by a certification signed by the patient. Patients can qualify for this plan without having to apply for Medicaid assistance.
The costs for services are comparable to what many insurance companies charge. These discounts do not apply to services that offer packaged rates such as bariatric surgery or obstetrics.
Enhanced Assistance Program
Banner Health understands that many patients that require hospital services are both uninsured and unable to pay for these services. The Enhanced Assistance Program serves uninsured individuals with a household income at or below 500% of the Federal Poverty Line. For instance, this could be a family of four with an annual household income of less than $19,350.
Once a patient is identified as having a household income level described in the above paragraph, the patient may qualify for the Enhanced Assistance Program in the form of substantial discounts or even free care. This qualification is subject to application for Medicaid assistance.
Your PFS representative will work closely with you to help determine whether you qualify for the Banner Health Financial Assistance program. Should you have any questions or concerns, please feel comfortable discussing them with your PFS representative.
