I can remember being depressed for years.
Since I was a little girl I struggled with this sickness, but In November of 2007 I hit rock bottom. I lost my job because of my depression and was told that I was not dependable.
The leaders of my church brought me to North Colorado Medical Center behavioral health in Greeley, Colo., where I sat down with someone to take an intake assessment.
I began intensive outpatient therapy, which is group therapy three times a week for three hours at a time. The first time I stayed in the hospital was for three weeks. I was very suicidal. I was diagnosed with major depression and borderline personality disorder. Then I overdosed on Tylenol in February and had to go inpatient one more time. It is now July and I have not been an inpatient since.
I have finished Intensive outpatient therapy and I have been doing one-on-one counselng with a counselor at NCMC. I am currently taking medication to help with depression and working through some deep issues in therapy. I absolutely love my counselor. He has been there for me through so much pain, laughter, crying, and wanting to give up.I am so thankful to him and to all the health professionals that have helped in this painful and difficult journey. I don't know what I would have done without them. I am still changing and growing everyday, but today I can say want to live. I am trying to pursue a career in the medical field to help people like I was helped.
Thank you Banner Health for your financial help and your support. It means everything to me. I will never ever forget what a difference you have made in my life.
