   Amanda's Story

My husband Mark and I called Banner Gateway Friday Feb 10 because we were concerned that I could not feel our baby moving as she normally did.

I was 32 weeks pregnant and Tara the maternity triage nurse recommended that we come in and have her checked.

Unfortunately when they checked for Grace's heartbeat it was gone, she had died.

Our hearts were broken, she was our miracle baby after two hard years of trying to conceive and we could not believe that she was gone.

I was admitted to the hospital to have labor induced and at 11:18 am on Feb.12th I gave birth to our beautiful baby girl. She was so perfect... she had died from an umbilical cord accident.

Everyone at the hospital was amazing with us, we received such compassionate care that far exceeded our expectations. They made an incredibly difficult time a little easier.

As we mourn our daughter we are forever grateful for the memories that we have with her that were made possible by the nurses at Banner Gateway (Kacey, Mary Kay, Lesley and Tracey in particular). We got to hold our baby, bathe her, dress her and take her for a walk outside in the sun.

Giving birth to Grace is one of the greatest joys of my life, thank you so much for helping us. We are grieving and will miss Grace forever.

However should in the future we be lucky enough to give Grace a little brother or sister we would be honored to come back to the Maternity department at Banner Gateway. Forever Grateful, Amanda Ellen Varney and Mark C Manno (proud parents of Grace Ellen)
