   Shannon's Story

My son was born on April 11, 2010 at Banner Estrella Medical Center at 37 weeks via C-section.

When he was 2 1/2 weeks old my baby began to have severe ear drainage so I rushed him back to Estrella where all the nurses were so great they did everything they could to help him and me, they ran tests on him and discovered his white blood cell count was very high indicating that my baby had an infection.

My baby and I were taken by ambulance to Banner Thunderbird Medical Center because they had a PICU for him to go to. Two days after being admitted to the hospital my son was diagnosed with MRSA and spent the next 12 days in the hospital fighting for his life.

After the third attempt, the antibiotic began to work and he began to show improvement within hours. . . Every nurse made me feel that my son was the most important thing to them, they treated him as if he was their own child and I thank them so much because it was a very hard time for me and my husband.

Thank you again staff for all your help and support to keep me going, and for giving my son a second chance at life.
