I know this is a very late entry, but about four and a half years ago, I was pregnant with my first child. I was only six months pregnant and didn’t really think about early labor but decided to go to the ER (at North Colorado Medical Center) anyway just in case. I went to the ER, they sent me to Monfort Birthing Center and when the ER doc checked me I was already at a 6, so they decided to keep me for the night, figuring I would deliver soon.
Day and night went by, followed by more days and nights and I ended up staying for a month. If it wasn’t for the nurses and CNAs who took care of me, I wouldn’t have made it as far as I did.
There were four nurses that made me feel like family. One nurse had bought me new pajamas, another nurse bought me some things to pass the time, being in bed 24/7 for 30+ days is nerve-racking, but Brenda, made me feel just like one of her daughters. She invited me to the Valentine’s party the staff was having, she would buy me some fast food every now and then and she would rub my feet every night she was on.
I had a little girl on March 4, 2005. She was six weeks early, had to go to the NICU for a little under a month, and then got to go home with me.
She just turned four last month, and I owe it all to the nurses that told me and told me to stick with it for my little girl, even though I cried a lot during that time and whined a little too. They kept me in there to enjoy the princess I have now.
I know it’s been a long time since I have talked to or seen them but I just want to say how thankful I am to the entire staff and Monfort, and that I will love them forever!!!
