Craig's Story

On Nov. 4, 2004, my wife was taken from her OBGYN to Banner Desert for high blood pressure during her pregnancy. It was determined that she had pre-eclampsia and that she would be staying at the hospital to give birth. Keep in mind that our due date was Dec 25th. This was our first pregnancy.

The nurses (especially Jules) and doctors on staff could not have been better. Everyone was there for us to assist us through this emotional time. The doctors had been giving my wife magnesium to delay the birth.

Eventually, the staff decided that it was time to give birth and took my wife off of the magnesium and she gave birth on Sunday, Nov. 7.

My son, Bryce, was not breathing strong at birth. The staff rushed him to the NICU where the doctors worked on him to get him breathing. He stayed in the NICU for three weeks. . . . The NICU staff was amazing. They helped us with the simple tasks of being new parents. Showed us how to do changings, how to feed our son, give him baths. I would leave for work early and go see my new son at 3 a.m.

Today, Bryce turns 6 years old. He has seen physical therapist, occupational therapy and speech therapists throughout his life. . . . Bryce is now exceeding our expectations. Bryce plays hockey, t-ball, rides his bike, plays piano, loves to read, and is in Kindergarten this year. He has already been named Student of the Week and Reader of the Week at his school. . . .Anyone who is experiencing a similar situation, all I want to say is that it will get better. . . All I can say is .... THANK YOU!!!
