Dr. Alkon is a board-certified pediatrician. She received her early medical training at the Medical Pediatric Institute of Central Asia in Tashkent, Uzbekistan (formerly U.S.S.R.). In 1991, during “Perestroika” time, Dr. Alkon’s family immigrated to Toronto, Canada, where she continued her postgraduate education. Dr. Alkon came to the United States to complete her pediatric residency State University of New York (SUNY-Downstate) in Brooklyn, where she was honored to serve as pediatric chief resident and subsequently as a nephrology fellow.
In 2003, Dr. Alkon was hired by Nemours/AI Dupont Children's Hospital in Delaware and was working at its outpatient Pediatric Clinic and Nanticoke Memorial Hospital, caring for a large pediatric population in need in the southern part of the state.
Dr. Alkon has more than a decade of clinical experience in pediatrics, most recently serving as a pediatric hospitalist, caring for complex and very ill patients requiring hospitalization, as well as premature infants.
