Dr. Pootrakul specializes in general and vascular neurosurgery for brain and spine conditions and has a particular interest in Deep Brain Stimulation (DBS). Dr. Pootrakul completed much of his medical training in Thailand, receiving his medical degree from Chulalongkorn University and completing his internship and general surgery and neurosurgery residencies at the Chulalongkorn University Hospital in Bangkok. He then completed an additional residency at the Barrow Neurological Institute at St. Joseph’s Hospital and Medical Center in Phoenix, serving a year as senior resident. In addition, he traveled to London, Ontario, Canada, for a microvascular and carotid surgery fellowship at the University of Western Ontario and Affiliated Hospitals.

Board certified by the American Board of Neurological Surgeons, Dr. Pootrakul has worked with Phoenix area neurologists to develop a DBS program for movement disorders at Banner Boswell Medical Center. Dr. Pootrakul is a member of the American Association of Neurological Surgeons, Congress of Neurological Surgeons and Thai Physicians Association of America.
