A graduate of William M. Scholl College of Podiatric Medicine in Chicago, Illinois, Dr. Thomas Atwood completed his residencies at Rush Presbyterian Saint Luke’s Medical Center, Chicago, Illinois and Rush North Shore Medical Center, Skokie, Illinois.

Dr. Atwood specializes in surgical and non-surgical care of painful genetic and acquired foot deformities, bunions, hammer toes, heel pain, plantar fasciitis, arthritic joint repair, resurfacing (partial or total) joint implant, gout, tendonitis, removal of bone spurs, ganglion cysts, neuromas, injuries, sprains and fractures. He also specializes in the treatment of common foot conditions, such as ingrown toenails, plantar warts and diabetic foot care.


Interests and Activities:
I am an avid outdoorsman. I enjoy hunting and currently hold the Poe and Young record for American Elk in Archery hunting for 2007. I enjoy spending time with my family.

Surgical and non-surgical care of painful genetic and acquired foot deformities, bunions, hammer toes, heel pain, plantar fasciitis, arthritic joint repair, resurfacing (partial or total) joint implant, gout, tendonitis, removal of bone spurs, ganglion cysts, and neuromas, injuries, sprains and fractures. Treatment of common foot conditions such as ingrown toenails and plantar warts. Diabetic foot care with emphasis on patient education and prevention of foot complications. When necessary surgical intervention on the diabetic foot using a team approach including Endocrinology, Internal Medicine, Infectious disease, Vascular Surgery and Wound Care. Biomechanical evaluation and treatment of foot and ankle instability, poor alignment resulting in abnormal function and pain.
