Banner Del E. Webb becomes nationally stroke certified
SUN CITY WEST, Ariz. (June 5, 2012) – When you or someone you love has a stroke, a few seconds can mean all the difference in getting needed care. Banner Del E. Webb Medical Center has achieved national stroke certification, signifying the facility has made stroke treatment and prevention a priority.
Following the May 25 visit from surveyors, the nonprofit hospital received notice last week that it is now nationally certified by the Joint Commission as an Advanced Primary Stroke Center.
According to the Joint Commission's website, achievement of certification signifies that the services Banner Del E. Webb provides have the critical elements to achieve long-term success in improving outcomes.
“What an achievement by the team at Banner Del E. Webb,” said the hospital’s CEO, Debbie Flores. “We showed that we are more than prepared to provide the very best of care for every patient, every time.”
She lauded the efforts of the staff members who contributed to the successful survey.
“A special thanks to stroke coordinator Deb Liable, Dr. Swaraja Singh – Medical Director, Barb Preston, Marci Feddersen, Susan Hopf, Kevin Cruz, and Sandy Thompson for their dedication and preparation for this survey,” Flores said.
The Joint Commission's Primary Stroke Center Certification program was developed in collaboration with the American Stroke Association.
