Banner Del E. Webb collects children’s books

SUN CITY WEST, Ariz. (Oct. 22, 2012) – The staff at Banner Del E. Webb Medical Center, 14502 W. Meeker Blvd., is collecting children’s books for the Adelante Healthcare in Wickenburg and Surprise.

“The youngest patients and family members of the clinic face multiple challenges and literacy is chief among them,” said Banner Del E. Webb Quality Director Joe Jicha, who is organizing the drive for the second year. “There is an incredible opportunity for us to light the spark for lifelong learning.”

Last year, staff, volunteers and community members donated more than 1,000 books to the clinic.

The book drive will run from Oct. 24 until Nov. 26. The public is welcome to bring in donations to drop boxes located in the hospital’s east, main and Women’s Center entrances.

“You can find children’s books at your local garage sales,” Jicha said. “Or this might be a good time to clean out some of the extras you have around the house from your own children.”

Banner Del E. Webb is a 404-bed, acute-care hospital offering orthopedic surgery, heart care, emergency care, general surgery, cancer care, obstetrics and gynecology, medical imaging, women’s diagnostic services, outpatient services, rehabilitation and behavioral care.
