Banner Health to build four East Valley Health Centers

PHOENIX (June 9, 2012) -- The Banner Health Board of Directors have approved plans for the creation of four new Banner Health Centers, at a cost of approximately $45.2 million.

These new sites, all located in the East Valley, will expand the reach of Banner Health primary care services within Maricopa County.

The new Health Centers, including sites in Gilbert (Warner and Gilbert roads),  Queen Creek (Ellsworth Loop and Ocotillo roads), Chandler (Alma School and Willis roads), and East Mesa (Crimson and Baseline roads), are all anticipated to open in 2013.

Each of the new Centers will reflect the community need, but will be based on a model first demonstrated at the Banner Health Center in Maricopa which opened in May.

Patient appointments at that Center have already exceeded projections in its first two weeks of operation.

Banner Health Centers offer a mix of primary care services for everyone in the family—babies to seniors. Depending on the community, this may include Family Medicine, Internal Medicine, Pediatrics and Obstetrics and Gynecology. In addition, rotating physician specialists will be scheduled onsite to meet patient needs.

Under the same roof, there is access to general lab and imaging services reserved exclusively for patients of the Centers. Conference space is built into each Center for purposes of community education, and telemedicine capabilities prepare the site for high-tech consultations.

Existing Banner Health Centers include Banner Health Center in Maricopa and Banner Health Center in Peoria/Sun City. In 2012, Banner Health is scheduled to open Banner Health Centers in Verrado/Buckeye (Verrado Way and I-10), Surprise (Litchfield Road and Statler Street) and Goodyear (Estrella Parkway and Cotton Lane), Ariz., plus Southwest Loveland, Colo.

Two of these projects, Surprise and Goodyear, are leased properties. All of the other new projects will be built from the ground up based on a Banner Health Center franchise model. Centers are phased to grow as the patient base expands. They are scaled to property size, but most can nearly triple in size at full build out.

The architect for the new Arizona Health Centers is HMC Architects, and the general contractor is Kitchell.
