BRUSH, Colo. (April 13, 2012) – The volunteers, who help in the health care setting, are dedicated individuals who believe in giving back to the community in which they live. During National Healthcare Volunteer week, April 15 – 21, East Morgan County Hospital is proud to honor two outstanding auxiliary volunteers.

Marilyn Edson and Jimmie Likely have been named the 2012 Volunteers of the Year for East Morgan County Hospital.

Likely and Edson are co-managers of the Auxiliary Gift Shop, they purchase store items, train new volunteers, organized the work schedule, and decorate/arrange the displays.

Marilyn Edson has been a volunteer for more than 0 years, helping with the Hospital Employee luncheon, Spring Luncheon, 9Health Fair and was the 2010 membership chairman.

Edson volunteers to keep busy and she enjoys being with other people.

Jimmie Likely has volunteered for more than 10 years. She has held every officer position, most recently that of secretary. Some of her volunteering activities include: 9Health Fair, hospital employee luncheon and Spring luncheon.

Likely likes to be involved and she feels that the hospital is very important to this area.

In 2011, the 40 active members donated a total of 3,886 hours to a variety of projects including their annual fundraising, Spring Luncheon. They also held an employee appreciation luncheon, volunteered during the 9Health Fair and attended both the district meeting and the CAHAV conference.

Volunteers are an essential part of East Morgan County Hospital. The EMCH Auxiliary acts as the hospital's goodwill ambassadors, helping to direct the public around the building and raising money for many needs at the hospital.

The fundraising activities support the hospital in many different ways. In 2010, they contributed funds to the surgery remodel project and redecorated the Chapel. Continuing in 2011, they redecorated two patient rooms and purchased a Sci-Fit Arm Bike for the Rehabilitation department.  These contributions help to provide patients with excellent patient care.

In April 2012, the hospital auxiliary celebrates its 59th anniversary. Throughout years of caring and service, the auxiliary has supported the hospital and its patients.

The EMCH Auxiliary meets at 9:30 a.m. on the second Wednesday of every month, at the hospital.
