Platte County Memorial Hospital earns prestigious Quality healthcare award
WHEATLAND, WY (Oct. 11, 2013) – Platte County Memorial Hospital recently was presented with a prestigious Hospital Quality Award from Mountain-Pacific Quality Health during the Wyoming Hospital Association convention in September.
The hospital earned the Quality Achievement Award for outstanding performance in giving excellent care in the nationally measured areas of heart failure, pneumonia, heart attack, infection prevention and surgical complications. The award also recognizes Platte County Memorial Hospital’s strong leadership support for quality and patient safety. Platte County has received the award every year since it began in 2005.
“Our staff knows the importance of ensuring all patients receive the safest and highest-quality care possible,” said Shelby Nelson, chief executive officer of Platte County Memorial Hospital. “The award also shows the value of our focus on standardized, evidence-based practices to maintain that high level of patient care.”
Seven of the 27 acute care hospitals in Wyoming received the Quality Achievement Award—the highest award possible. These include two other Banner Health hospitals – Community Hospital in Torrington and Washakie Medical Center in Worland.
“These hospitals may be small in size, but they’re delivering big on care and quality,” said Jim Ferando, President of Banner Health’s Western Region. “I want to thank and congratulate all of our physicians, staff and volunteers at these hospitals that have played a role in making sure our patients receive the highest quality care and service.”
Mountain-Pacific is the Medicare Quality Improvement Organization for Montana, Wyoming, Hawaii and Alaska and works under contract with the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services to promote proven best practices and transform the way health care is delivered.
