Accredited Chest Pain Center
Banner Desert Medical Center received Chest Pain Center Accreditation with PCI (percutaneous coronary intervention) from the Society of Chest Pain Centers (SCPC) on Oct. 1, 2011.
Banner Desert used the Society’s process improvement tool to integrate nationally recognized best practices with our current standard of excellent patient care for those with acute coronary syndrome. The “percutaneous coronary intervention” (PCI) designation lets the community know that emergency medical services (EMS) and our emergency room and cardiac staff are working in concert for their benefit.
“We are extremely proud to receive this prestigious accreditation,” said Todd Werner, CEO of Banner Desert Medical Center. “It is another step in our effort to continuously improve the level of care that we provide to our patients.”
As an Accredited Chest Pain Center, the hospital ensures that patients who arrive at the hospital complaining of chest pain or other symptoms of a heart attack receive the treatment necessary during the critical window of time when the integrity of the heart muscle can be preserved. By becoming an Accredited Chest Pain Center, Banner Desert has enhanced the quality of care for acute coronary syndrome (ACS) patients and has demonstrated its commitment to higher standards.
Banner Desert's cardiovascular and pulmonary rehab programs receive certification
Banner Desert Medical Center is proud to announce the certification of its cardiac and pulmonary rehabilitation programs by the American Association of Cardiovascular and Pulmonary Rehabilitation (AACVPR).
Cardiovascular and pulmonary rehabilitation programs help people with cardiovascular problems (e.g. heart attacks, coronary artery bypass graft surgery, etc.) and pulmonary problems (e.g. chronic obstructive pulmonary disease – COPD, respiratory symptoms, etc.) recover faster and improve their quality of life. Both programs include exercise, education, counseling and support for patients and their families.
The Banner Desert cardiac and pulmonary rehabilitation programs participated in the one-month application process. The AACVPR Program Certification is the only peer-reviewed accreditation process designed to review individual programs for adherence to standards and guidelines developed and published by the AACVPR and other professional societies.
AACVPR Program Certification is valid for three years.
