The departments at Banner Ironwood Medical Center that make up our Surgical Care Areainclude the pre-op holding unit, the operating rooms, the post-anesthesia care unit and the sterile processing unit.
Caregivers in these units work together and with the surgeons, anesthesiologists and other health care professionals to provide the best surgical experience possible.
The surgical area includes four technologically
advanced operating rooms and two endoscopy suites.
In addition, the surgical care area includes:
Pre-admission Teaching — to contact patients prior to surgery and gather patient information, educate them about the procedure, and compile pre-op testing results.
Pre-operative Unit/Post-anesthesia Care Unit — with 14 private spaces used to prepare patients for surgery, as well as provide recovery space for patients to safely transition to an inpatient unit or home. All caregivers are trained in adult and pediatric advanced life support, as well as cardio-pulmonary resuscitation.
Sterile Processing Department — where sterilization professionals are dedicated to ensuring that all of the instruments, equipment and supplies utilized in the operating room are completely germ-free and sterile for all surgeries performed.
