Cardiovascular Intensive Care
Patients in the Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit receive the highest level of care and attention with a ratio of one nurse to every two patients.
Additionally, every room is equipped with Banner iCare™ technology. This advanced patient monitoring system enhances the care and safety of ICU patients by teaming our on-site medical staff with intensive-care specialists who follow patients’ care around the clock from a remote monitoring center located on the campus of Banner Desert Medical Center in Mesa, Ariz.
With the Banner iCare™ monitoring system, patient information, vital signs, laboratory data and X-rays from the sickest hospital patients are fed to an off-site team of intensive-care physician specialists and critical-care nurses.
This solution serves as a safety net, providing another set of watchful eyes to provide proactive care by constantly checking early warning indicators for any sign of trouble. If a change is detected, the Banner iCare™ specialists at Banner Desert Medical Center communicate directly with the bedside ICU teams at Banner Thunderbird Medical Center to help determine what the patient needs.
Patient and family comfort
Banner Thunderbird understands the importance of family support for patients during their stay. The Intensive Care Unit patient suites are private, with large, wheelchair-accessible restrooms, to make patients and their family as comfortable as possible.
Rooms also feature flat panel televisions and couches that double as a bed for overnight guests. Immediately outside most rooms is a nurse charting station to ensure that nurses are close at hand when patients need assistance.
