The Medical Imaging department at Cardon Children's Medical Center is designed to cater to the special needs of our pediatric patients and their families.
We understand that sometimes testing can be uncomfortable or scary for children and for parents. Our goal is to help the child and parents make any imaging experience as quick and as comfortable as possible.
To achieve that goal, Cardon Children’s Medical Imaging department provides radiologists, technologists and anesthesiologists trained in pediatric care, including conscious sedation. The department also works with Child Life Specialists and its own Medical Imaging technologists to ensure a caring and comfortable experience for all young patients.
For our pediatric patients, Medical Imaging uses special screening protocols, state-of-the-art medical imaging technologies and expertly trained imaging professionals to aid in the early detection, examination and diagnosis of various illnesses and abnormalities.
Physicians refer inpatients, outpatients and emergency patients to Cardon Children's Medical Center for an array of imaging procedures including:
- Computed Tomography (CT)
- Image Guided Biopsy
- Diagnostic Radiography Imaging (X-ray)
- Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI)
- Nuclear Medicine
Cardon Children's Medical Center supports conscious sedation for some testing, including MRI or Nuclear Medicine. Conscious sedation is controlled by an anesthesiologist, and can be used for tests or procedures that require a child to hold still for an extended period of time.
